What Did You See?

I'm sure you've noticed.
I can't bare to look at you.
I can't bare to hear your voice
I can't bare to be near you.
I can't bare the scent of your perfume.
I can't bare your touch.
But most of all, dear,
I can't bare to look in your eyes.
I'm afraid of what I'll see.
I'm afraid of what I'll feel.
I'm afraid of what you'll see.
I'm afraid of what you'll feel.
I'm afraid of feeling….period.
And yet, still I wonder,
The last time our eyes connected,
Did you see love?
Did you see pain?
Did you see adoration?
Did you see disgust?
Did you see confusion?
Baby, in that moment,
What did you see in my eyes?
 
Did you see what YOU NEEDED to see?
Or did you see what was really there?
