Divided by Jeckell and Hyde
I need words on paper
to diminish what I feel
because it takes so long
to put you on paper
and have it not turn out right,
then what chance does that
give us?
It's easier to escape to other people,
I admit I'm talking about him.
He holds me at night
kisses me good-bye
and even in bed manages to feel like
my brother.
I haven't noticed any sparks yet
but I'm at the point where sparks
would seem anti-climatic
like painting the Aftermath in
watercolors.
I want your slightly fuller lower lip
to be caught gently between
your teeth
as you explain all I've tried too.
I'll hide this away
from your knowing eyes
that can't guess that it's
all about you. Unknowing that you won-
there was never a contest-
because even though you aren't GQ-
You're all I ever wanted.
