there is no reverse
no do overs
no way to turn back the clock
try as we might to
be amateur archeologists inside
ourselves and inside each other
and though we drag ourselves into the
emotional baggage that
sometimes carries US around
on its back
the single most important fact
of anything that will ever matter
is only this:
the next moment of my life
is the one I choose to be
more in love with you than the one
I am living in now
and even more than the one
I just left in my rear view mirror
