Collateral
It was a rager
  At my house and
I found you
   At your usual spot
  Puking on my dock
I sparked a Danny for you
  Even though you were
No where near sober enough
  To smoke it
You and your brother
  Had it out earlier
You were crying and
Refused to look me in the eye
With your slurred words
  My comforting qualities
Made things "too serious" and
  We ended with me suggesting
That you leave
I got another drink
  Maybe even blinked
And you were gone from the dock
  Leaving it dark and quiet
I found you later
  Passed out
In our tent
  The sea-breezes
Made you shake
  You awoke
Managing to ask for a pillow
I made an even trade
   For your keys
  Knowing you were smart enough
Not to drive
  But I needed collateral
For my heart
  Even though I wouldn't
Have it back
  Come morning
You would still be in my arms
