Times have changed and so have I, But still i lag behind a spinning world. Running and running climbing and falling, Cannot I but walk? My lungs are scorched my limbs are weak But still the heart keeps pumping. It looks for gold beneath the earth, But the earth is vast and crowded. Here and there seeking everywhere, But rocks can be deceiving. I rob myself of sleep and rest, But still the gold I cannot find. I journeyed far and in my heart, The name of God who gave me life. I've served my castle's king and queen, And the knights i know as brothers. Kept my faith and served for love, And my heart has been made merrier. Here now, I lay, all in awe and wonder, For time has added yet another. The horizon's unclear, my sight is vague, Or have I searched too far? For now I see in my mind's eye, Immaterial is the gold I seek. Shall one come or should i seek? Should my answer be to wait? But please come, hither and no sooner, For youth inevitably is consumed. By then the hearts be merry And each beating with another Then I, with joy shall behold, The gold behind thy sweet embrace. |
