Any fool can say I love you. I'd rather be the fool who helps wash the dishes folds the laundry and puts the child in bed. Any fool can say I want you. I want to be the one your body craves as surely as you need air who maps your belly and thighs with kisses the one you cling to in sleep. Any fool can make you a promise. I want to be as natural to you as gravity so you snuggle in tight to watch the late show and fall asleep in my arms. Any fool can say forever. I'll only stick around an hour a day a week thirty or forty years to play nurse if you're sick to light the candles on your cake to pay for the tires and see the child through college. Any fool could do these things. If you don't mind I'd rather not be any fool. Just yours. |
