Silence in the garden. She's sweeping up the broken pots pulling weeds filling broken paving and clearing the way for something new. I don't say anything. I pick up a rake to gather anything loose and let her decide what she will discard or keep. It's not my garden. I don't plant or gather or decide what will or will not be here in spring. I'll stay to help because she wants me to a man not a bandaide to be used and thrown away before finding someone new. There's lots to do. Two can do better than one. So I'll rake and dig and carry and hope that when the time comes for planting and she is pleased with what she has we will plant the seeds together. |
