I went to rake the leaves for my old ladies. At least that's what I call them. Kind of strange referring to them as "mine." Anyway, one lady asked me in for a piece of cake, And since I'm not one to refuse a dessert, A gladly accepted. She must have been pretty lonely, Because she talked to me for an hour, And I just sat there listening. Finally, I told her I had to go. She asked if I wanted another piece of cake, But I gracefully declined. I went across the street to work on the next yard, And just as I was walking around The corner of the house, A feather fluttered down right in front of me. I looked up to see where it had come from. There was nothing but blue sky and clouds. So I thought it must have been a sign. Then I looked over at the man next door, Sitting in his blue jeans and t-shirt smoking a cigarette, And I noticed his bare feet. Every other toe was painted red and blue. It takes a big man to let his daughter paint his toenails, And I smiled to myself. That's when the thought struck. No matter what kind of weirdos and wackos There are in the world, Life still goes on... |
