Decorating With Words

Picking the colors
with the decor in mind
the style, all the while
as I carefully find

Just the right furniture
I keep moving them around
till the acoustics are happy
as  I  decorate with sound

Placing this here
no, that's a little too light
I'll move it over there
till the words feel  just right

The curtains I choose
to cover the glass
sometimes they're quite  formal
with plenty of class

Drapes for the times
when the brightness is loud
to soften the glare
let resplendence abound

A knick-knack or two
to liven the mood
a picture is chosen
a beautiful nude

A mural is splashed
on the well painted wall
a mirrored engraving
reflective of all

Early american
when the cattle are calling
autumn's burnt colors
when the leaves are all falling

Victorian styles
with feelings straightlaced
minuet dancing
of gallant proud grace

And forget not the candles
and quaint chandaliers
for romantic encounters
that dress all the years

Sometimes the room
needs touches of lace
leopard throw pillows
with satin trimmed case

The black and the reds
to pronounce all the heat
when the passion is purple
and you throb to the beat

I generally use  blue
in its various hues
when I decorate  with tears
as I carefully  choose

The  maudlin and poignant
sadness of pain
painted with shades
of winter's dark rain

So many options
and choices to make
when decorating with words
let there be no mistake
