Starlight

Starlight the radio played
As they hurtled past faces
All details just blurred
Laughing and singing
Not allowing the chill in to spoil.
Starlight they wailed to
Until the lights halted them
And they wound down the windows
To let the people take shape
And the chill enter their veins.
Starlight they laughed to
And clapped to
And giggled
Whilst people just stared
Wondering over the crazy young lovers
With their crazy fun.
Starlight they died to
As he couldn't find the brake
And the laughing turned to fear
And he squeezed her hand and cried
'I love you'
As the world went black.
Starlight the church bells played
As they were laid to rest together;
Whilst tears fell for them
They watched from heaven
Humming starlight
Still holding hands.
