Count The Cost

Count the cost before you start
especially when
it might hurt your heart

For hearts are frail
and easily break
can bleed in grief
when you make a mistake

~  ~  ~      ~  ~  ~      ~  ~  ~

We might begin to build a house
without calculating the cost
only to find our funds didn't last
and  forced to declare it a loss

impelled  to abandon what we had started
embarassed that we couldn't finish
leaving two hearts crushed and broken
with feelings that just won't diminish

Had we only counted the sum of the cost
the price in the end, we would pay
knowing we hadn't the funds to complete it
avoiding this total  dismay

So counting the cost before you get started
is something so totally new
It's never to late to change how you do things
for it will bring pleasure to you
