The Very Idea

She's in love with love
Not love as a specific person, for the face changes
But simply the very idea of love, as abstract as it may be
And it isn't so much the act that enthralls her
(Though that isn't too bad either)
But the process, the trimmings, the lace
The ideology of love--
What she sees in her mind as perfect and beautiful
Perhaps getting lost in it all, forgetting some things
Like the face she caresses may not be what it seems
That the love that she feels is not truly for him
But for the ideal she holds dear to her heart
And it saddens me to think that all may be for naught
For she often fools herself, and tricks her heart
Never knowing how or why or when
But the girl doesn't think straight at all
Or maybe she just doesn't think
All I know is that she's in love with love
And walking straight into the arms of trouble...
