Fingerpaint

And you took your fingers
swirled within me
what I was never about
what I always chained
myself
against becoming
All shades of gray
when I've been destined
for colors of the rainbow
but the rainbow never
came
after our storms
these smudged prints
of betrayal
stain my skin
painting out this
tale
forced to compromise
my own needs
for a little sun
in this cloudy sky
