My love lays here like a lonely desert flower Alone it lies Nothing to shield it from the cruel sun That threatens to steal its last drops of breath away No rain to quench its thirst, or to have fallen upon it in hopes of hiding its tears It quivers against the cold winds and hides in the darkness of the night But yet it still blooms each day slowly and unsurely Facing the world A beautiful vulnerability Opening its bright, fragile petals Opening itself to embrace the new day, to find what it longs for In hopes of bathing in warmth, and a gentle caress of rain that softly wipes its tears away Longing to love with all its being and to be loved in return. |
