you think true love is a myth because you've been burned to ash and didn't have the strength to soar above it you think it's a waste of time and emotion and it isn't really true because while she's with you she's thinking of him but if you know of sacrifice and sticking with it even when there is no glamor or glitz the shoe fits but you want to kick it off and run through the daisies then you think you're crazy when you look at her sleeping beside you you hug her and are warmed and if you know of compassion and shared sorrow in a hospital lobby in a funeral home holding her hand when her mind is gone and she's only a sad shell of the woman you married then you don't need to feel the fireworks and the turning tummy pain to know that love is real enough for this lifetime and if you're lucky the next. |
