As we stood by your car I saw it on your face. Then you cleared your throat and loosened your embrace. You looked into my eyes as tears rolled down your cheek. I could see you searching for the right words to speak. You said you wanted to be "more than friends" and that you "really do care" but that you've changed in bad ways but you will always be there. Tears began to stream as now I began to cry. I just wanted to pull away from you and to run and hide. But instead we held each other listening to the silence of the night. We kissed one last kiss and you drove out of sight. |
