The moment that our eyes met I could tell that you were different, Not like all the others that I am drawn to. I saw softness in your eyes and a kindness in your smile, Which made it easier for me to approach you. I remember you being so easy to talk to Our conversation lasted all night. After a few drinks it was closing time So we made plans for dinner the next night. I was sure you wouldn't call me So I didn't expect to hear from you. But to my surprise you called to confirm Seemed that our plans would follow through. At dinner I was so comfortable Felt like I had known you for weeks. You were kind and treated me like a lady Afterwards we took a stroll on the beach. I was nervous about whether or not we should kiss But once it happened I didn't want it to cease. And when it came time for me to go home I wished we didn't have to leave. I know you are very busy You have dreams and goals to pursue. It's not easy to get involved with someone And still struggle to do what you must do. So I won't ask you for the promise of tomorrow Because today alone is a gift I treasure the times we spend with each other And enjoy the warmth in every kiss. I won't expect too much from you. Won't ask you to stay or force you to go. You can do as you please and so will I We'll just casually go with the flow. I'll listen patiently to all your dreams and fears And if you'd like, I'll share with you mine. Regardless of what happens there's a reason why we met We'll figure that out within time. But meanwhile don't be afraid to open up If things don't work out I won't be upset I'm patient and understanding I'm just glad that we met. |
