Mother knows I am a big girl now. She knows how I ache and of the love I make. Mother knows about the nights and the long weekends spent doing... nothing. She's careful with her phone calls now. Careful not to interrupt, not to blush. But mother doesn't know it all. She doesn't know the way you pull my hair or the way I claw your back. She doesn't know the names we call when all doors are closed. She doesn't know that her little girl can be a very bad little girl indeed. Mother knows best but it's best she doesn't know all. |
