Across the Room

I saw you from across the room
That familiar feeling once again
My heart skipped beats
As I took a deep breath
And forced myself to approach
A cool hello and how have you been
As memories passed through my mind
Those eyes have not changed
The voice still deep and handsome
The smile so gentle and kind
The pain still hurts so deep
As the scars begin to show
I thought I had mask them well
Yet my eyes can not lie
For my heart will always belong to you
And you know this to be
We are so weak
And both long for those moments and memories
As we steal away each chance we can
Knowing our love is special in its own way
The friendship built
The love that was
The sharing of our deepest secrets
That others have never known
Yet lost somehow to time and space
We regain the reality
Of love lost and growth made
