I look into those eyes
that I often seek comfort in
I see the pain
the disappointment
and the fear
I am eager to console you
kiss away your tears
bring you to my breast
that you may nestle there
hearing my heart beat
in rhythmic motion
hypnotizing you
allowing you to slumber
bringing you peace
wrap my arms around you
embracing you with security
sending away the world
holding you in love
as I watch you breathe
hearing your tones of comfort
I caress away your concerns
petting your brow
watching you exhale
releasing it all
wishing you to stay
in this moment of serenity
for a lifetime
