I'll cop to tenderness
in certain moments
and awe
when the occasion suits.
Love, though
has been difficult
to get my head around
even though it has become
evident to my heart
that love is what is happening
here.
Try as I may to turn away
I will have to dig in my heels
and fight myself to stay,
for she is essential
to this man,
she is the source of light
of hope, of possibility,
and living without her
I know now
simply cannot be done
