The Important Stuff

......that we  talked
for an hour or more
......you and I
in the glow of the candle ..
right after we made love
and I held you close
... stroking your hair with my fingers
we talked of love...
..... blue dragons
crushed velvet teddy bears
that are so squeezeably soft
it was the
the important stuff
.....of our life
that we talked about
...and all these things
that we really are...
....we really need
....don't you see....
the little things
......that are really us..
...then we fell asleep
cradled
.. in each others arms
content in this moment
of our own existence
as nothing else
could ever matter
