Tears

today
i watched
as your tears fell
like diamonds
falling gently
from the heavens

i long to gather each tear
place them in a safe place of my heart
let them age with each beat
becoming an eloquent vintage

present them to you in the future
watch you pop the cork
taste the bitter sweet of life
as you reminisce
and toast to the future
with joy
