You wanted to find out for yourself If all you heard was true. Needed to see who I really am And I wanted to let you. You caught me in a lie once or twice And I promised to lie no more Because I knew after the second lie You'd probably be keeping score You said you didn't play games Because they'd broken your heart in the past So I let down my guard And you walked through the door at last. My heart was an open book It was my choice to let you read The pages were laid out before you And yours under lock and key But that was okay at the time It made me want to turn the page Read on to the next chapter Learning more day by day So I read on in anticipation Only to learn that fiction became truths It seems the synopsis had lied I was losing my desire to peruse But before I could close the book I had to read one last page But it seemed that it was blank My sight was disengaged The story ended before it's time I never got to read the end So I was left wondering... Remind me ... Never to read a book referred by a friend. 7.10.03 Stacey |
