Poems on the Porch by The Love Dog By chance, a spring rain suddenly came Cold and hard on silent streets They stood there watching and listening As the rivers of desire ran down gutters Cluttered with the experiences of lives past They were as natural as the rain These two bandits stealing time away The moments melted into hours As if the darkness would never pass And they knew of no other reality That could change their mood Arched back with arms wrapped around security Lifted them to a higher plane In the distance faint echoes Of traffic raced over time and emotion As the promise of tomorrow Brought wide smiles to faces full of pleasure It was just another fantasy they thought Of people and places yet to come But they knew it was true When the sweat of the passion Ran down their cheeks Leaving the saltlike taste of bittersweet rain To always remind them of this night |
