At first, I envy the geese this evening as I hear them fly over to some safe place for the night. They'll keep each other company. A pair, coupled in vigilance to the dangers about. But only two now, where before there had been a flock or family of geese. And, I wonder, is this a pair still left? Will I hear their cries and more overhead again next season? In new awareness I wonder, as alone and vigilant, I sit and listen to these two head home.
