The Mistake I Never Made

I could cry a pool of tears
drag myself through mud and mire
Spend an endless tour of  hours
count my blunders and never tire

I could punish myself forever
for the  choices I was making
for the foolish affairs I danced thru
and the chances I was taking

But had I been more careful
We never would have met
I would have missed a special part
that hadn't surfaced yet

But I'd rather laugh at shadows
as my past begins to fade
You're the one mistake I cherish
The mistake I never made.
