On Aging Together

The great thing about long term monogamy
is that with all the changes you can always see
as no one else
the fairness of that sweet young thing
that started all the fires
to start with
and so you can keep the sweet of youth with you
for all time
and fair the face of aging.

Then, too, there's
that long slow strangulation
of married-with-children sex
that over time can make the droop'd changes
of the latter age
look downright desirable...
