You walk the tightrope well, and I forgive you for it, for the fact that it’s turned into a noose— it’s pointless, really, because neither of us are going to hang ourselves, we just like to pretend, dramatic. When I said that it would be ironic, you responded “tragic”— and I must admit, I knew exactly what you pretended not to mean, and I forgave you for it. But I’ve given the wrong lines, haven’t I? Well, I never knew the role so well (too well)—but I’ll stand underneath the spotlight, again, if you could just explain my motivation (I know it, but I want to hear you say it). |
