before the dawn

i remember what it was like
laying next to you in bed
our bodies akimbo
happily sated for now
resting easily with each other
drifting off to sleep
in each others arms
awakening in the morning
and starting  a new page
in the book of our love
those days have gone now
and i can't begin to say
how much i miss you
now i toss and turn
afraid of the darkenss
without you by my side
and it  seems that
its always coldest
before the dawn
