I collapsed on a stone hill today, Amongst the cold, the green, and earth darker than His hair. I collapsed on a stone hill today. I can't tell you how far I ran, how far I have run to meet You, to see You, To see the sun rise and fall in Your eyes. Splintered wood, nails not quite sharp or clean as Your speech-- Hanging restlessness, fatherly satisfaction, completion. Finality. I collapsed on a stone hill today. I didn't get to hear Your last breath, or see the last drop of sweat from Your body, heart, and soul-- Your Spirit saw me fall amongst the cold, the green, and earth darker than Your hair. And I felt washed. I felt healed. My head resting on a red river of life flowing from Your body, heart, and soul-- Your Spirit forgave me amongst the cold stone, the green, and earth darker than Your hair. I collapsed on a stone hill today. I collapsed in dirty rags, and chains, and burdens beyond mind and self. I collapsed... And rose dressed in crimson. I am washed. I am healed. Hand me no towel to wash Your beautiful away. Let me drown in Your red river, Your body, Your heart, Your Soul...Your Spirit. When I hear the music, and my heart is in pieces, and I can't find the will to wake up to a beautiful tomorrow, I will run. I will run forever only to collapse on a stone hill before You, Jesus. Amen. |
