My emotions refuse to be caged. Joy is meant to be displayed, and Hope is intended to inspire! Neither should be suppressed, As if riddled by guilt. I offer a promise Of honesty, respect and trust. Beyond that, I won't invite, Nor seek, any conditions. Just that you reciprocate. It really is that easy. Being that it's only a beginning. But listen closely... Please know, When love emerges, It OWNS me. When it materializes, I have no defense. I don't need to scream it aloud From the highest mountains, But I can't be concerned About the world finding out. It's not to be whispered in secret; Nor displayed and acknowledged Only when no one else is near. It must exist without A sense of the forbidden. If its hidden... is there shame? As if I'm cheating? Admittedly, it gets in my head, Experience has taught me It doesn't deserve the power. Loving in the dark Is the only force I know of That will extinguish All the possibilities that love offers Before given the chance to realize. You don't have to anticipate what's next.
