Devotion is what you've shown me the past week that I've regained contact with you you call me, you email me, you run errands for me you've even changed your mind about the man in my life to make me happy but are you happy does the one you chose to replace me make you smile, laugh, and truly dream the way you did with me i accepted you, especially your gift, but they have no idea it's an integral part of you yet you choose to remain silent to hide a treasure so valuable it's almost like stealing to keep it secret you call me at all hours you say it's because you're worried about me have you had dreams about the incident do you long to protect me if i gave you a chance, could you keep me safe would you just drop your current life and rebuild one with me at the center i long to hold you again, to see your smling face you seem to believe that the person i've chosen can make me happy but as happy as you did you've given so much and asked so little to me, that's a rarity and i don't know how to handle it you are more than a friend and i think you know it, but most of all, your partner knows it too how did you know that i wouldn't leave him i'm not saying that you are wrong but did it hurt you so badly that the sight of me wounds you your words, your voice, you eyes are so gentle and you still hint of the possiblity of the love that never matured because it wasn't given a chance but still, your devotion to me grows |
